I’ve spent over four decades of my life being all the things others wanted or expected me to be. Let me share a little about how I got to this point..sharing a moment with you now.

Many moons ago, or at least it feels like that, when in fact it was just a few short years ago..
May 2022, I made the decision to retire from teaching.

I worked with 14-18 year old students and as well as a teacher I was also the Pastoral Leader.

I was the YES girl who never said NO for fear of upsetting others or letting them down. I was that person that worked through lunch and was first in to the building and mostly last out. In hindsight I was constantly trying to prove that I was good enough.

Oh Yes! I used to worry what others thought of me all of the time. My face didn't seem to fit and although I was asked to take on roles during maternity leave and sickness cover, when it came to progressing formally I was never given the job. Completely reinforcing my "not good enough" beliefs.

I collected qualifications to validate my abilities yet I was still overlooked.
I felt unable to speak up as I didn't want to "mark my card" or be shut down.
I hated the sound of my own voice, the way I looked.

I used to feel sorry for people who had to look at me and listen to me, and as for listening to myself on a recording or video...JUST NO!

Fast forward to now! Know this friend. I am a far cry from that person.

I count my blessings for the path I have taken and I could cry happy tears when I look at how far I have travelled on my magic carpet (much nicer than sitting on the M60) and
how I am now able to own my magnificence and provide help and support to others
every single day so that they can do the same. We are all amazing souls. It just takes some of us longer than others to recognise that. I'm here to bring that out with the people I work with.
